FISH MAGNET ZXY 4.5"

A bait that transforms underwater

A sight-fishing weapon envisioned by Takuma Hata

Since the release of the “Magatail” under the FISH MAGNET brand, which has racked up an impressive track record, we sought to develop a new lure. We wanted to create a sight-fishing weapon made for the modern era, and the result is ZXY. The bait was designed to succeed the “Yammy,” and has a unique square cross-section.

THE XYZ Golden Ratio

Through trial and error with various prototypes, we put the most emphasis on the X, Y, and Z axes when shaping the bait in a square cross-section.

We repeatedly created prototypes in every conceivable pattern, adjusting them by 0.5mm increments at a time, before finally arriving at the finished product.

Ultimately, we found that simply scaling up the 3.5-inch prototype, which had delivered the best catch results, to a 4.5-inch size maximized casting distance, action, and catch rates, leading us to bring this product to market.

Named by GACKT

The name “ZXY” was chosen by the renowned Japanese artist GACKT—who is also a fishing companion of Takuma Hata.

GACKT personally tested the prototype during its development; inspired by Hata’s intense focus on the X, Y, and Z axes, he decided to name the product by rearranging the letters “XYZ” into “ZXY.”

The Golden Ratio That Comes Alive Underwater

The lure features specific flat surfaces created based on a precise “Golden Ratio” of X, Y, and Z dimensions.

These flat surfaces catch and displace water, significantly influencing the lure’s action and enabling a seductive, lifelike movement.

Recommended Settings for Various Rigs

The ZXY features a small, round protrusion on the upper center section to serve as a reference point for hook placement, such as when using a Wacky Rig.

When rigged weightless and “wacky” style, the hook placement allows you to utilize these flat surfaces to produce a unique “yoko-yoko” (side-to-side gliding) action.

When rigged weightless with an offset hook, the bait will
sink as the flat surface of the belly catches water, causing the bait to gently
sway and fall head-first. This action mimics the movement of a real fishwithout any rod movements.

Please refer to the recommended rigging setups below for more details.

ZAPPU Rigid Finesse #2 or #3
[Weightless Offset] ZAPPU Bellows Hook #2 or #1
[Jig Head (Mid-Strolling/Midst Setting)] Round-type jig head recommended.
